RECEIVING REIKI ATTUNEMENTS
It is the attunement that, in a few short moments, transforms you
from an incandescent light bulb into a coherent laser beam.
During
an attunement, as many different things are experienced as there are
initiates. Some perceive colors, others
see pictures, and still others recall past lives. Some are filled with light or a feeling of
total peace, wonder or love. Some
initiates may perceive more than others do.
The sensations are definite but very gentle. When asked to place their hands upon someone
else to bring the energy through, the new Reiki healer may experience for the
first time the Reiki characteristic of heat radiating through their hands.

Receiving Reiki Attunements
By Theda Renee Floyd, PhD, RN, HHP
The
process of attunement or initiation is what sets Reiki apart from other forms
of hands-on healing. It is extremely important to realize that the
attunement does not give you anything new.
It is an initiation that facilitates what you really are already capable
of. The attunement is a process that
happens between the Reiki Master/Teacher and the student. As the auras of the two people meld together,
the student’s energy channels open and obstructions or blockages start to
release. In other words, the density
that the student has acquired over their lifetime begins to lift from their
subtle and physical body grid. Each time
a person receives an attunement, a larger percentage of this density
releases. With less obstruction, the
light of the Universe flows brighter and more in phase, like a coherent laser
beam. It is the attunements
themselves that are Reiki, and without this process, the healing system is not
Reiki but something else.
Reiki
Masters may give either hands-on attunements, in which the Master and initiate
are in the same location; or they may give distance attunements, in which the
Master and initiate are in different locations.
Attunements may be made into a beautiful ritual or done quickly and
without ceremony. Each Reiki Master has
their own way of passing attunements, and various methods are valid. In Reiki I, the student receives the first
combined attunement. They receive an additional attunement in
Reiki II, and one more attunement in Reiki III.
Each degree’s attunements increase the positive power of the initiate’s
ability to channel Ki.

The
attunement does not give the receiver anything new; it opens and aligns what
was already a part of them. The
attunement offers a sacred moment, an initiation or a memorable crossing from
one phase of life to another. The
attunement heightens and strengthens your capability of running the cleanest,
brightest, and most coherent energy.
Anyone can send healing, good wishes, or prayers to someone struggling,
but it is the attunement that, in a few short moments, transforms you from an
incandescent light bulb into a coherent laser beam.
