If you
were to view the chakras from the side, they would appear as spinning energy
funnels originating from the central energy channel which overlays the spinal
cord and extending outside of the body, somewhat like whirlpools. Optimally functioning chakras will be in
perpetual motion, radiant, symmetrical, and open. The open end of a balanced chakra is about
four to five inches in diameter at a distance of one inch from the body. If you were to stand in front of another
person, slow down their chakras and view them, you would find that they
resemble the spectacular ever-changing mandalas that are produced when you turn
a kaleidoscope with one exquisite formation flowing into the next.
Aromatherapy: Ancient
Wisdom for Modern
Times
Although the
contemporary practice of modern aromatherapy originated only within the last
hundred years, the use of aromatic plant substances for healing purposes can be
traced back to all the major ancient civilizations of the world. Ancient writings describe the use of aromatic
herbs, spices, resins, fats, oils, vinegars, wines, beers, and more for rituals,
embalming, healing, and beatification.
It is believed that aromatic plants have actually been used by humankind
since the dawn of human history. . . . MORE!

Your Chakras: Sacred Centers of
Light
By Theda Renee Floyd, PhD, RN, HHP
Every
living being including the Earth and the Universe has spinning vortices of
energy called chakras. In fact, you have thousands of chakras in and
around you. Deep within your physical
body are located the seven major chakras that most affect your daily life. Each of these energy centers has a different
frequency, color, function, and purpose.
The
chakras located in the lower part of your body vibrate and spin slower, while
the chakras in your upper body vibrate and spin faster. Your heart chakra is the hub of your
spiritual core and connects your lower three chakras, which are focused on
worldly issues, with your upper three chakras, which are focused on spiritual
issues. Together, these seven energy
centers form a greater connecting bridge between body and mind, matter and
consciousness, Earth and Heaven.
In
Eastern esoteric literature, each of the chakras is perceived as a sacred
center of light represented by a lotus flower having a specific number of
petals. On closer investigation, these
petals appear to be small rotating vortices that are spinning at very high
rates. Each vortex assimilates an energy
vibration that resonates at its particular spin frequency. The first chakra, for example, has four small
vortices and assimilates four basic frequencies of energy; the second chakra
has six small vortices and assimilates six basic frequencies of energy, and so
on up the seven chakra system. Like
flowers, the chakras can be open or closed depending on the state of the
consciousness within.
The
chakras are intuitively sensed in relation to the midline of the body, and the
spine, from the base of the tailbone to the area above the top of the
head. These seven chakras align along a
vertical central channel of subtle energy that serves as a personal
If you

Each
major chakra on the front of the body is paired with its counterpart on the
back of the body, and together they are considered to be the front and rear
perspective of one chakra. The first
chakra which faces downward toward the Earth, and the seventh chakra which faces
upward toward Heaven, also have rear perspectives that may be perceived
intuitively. The front perspectives are
related to our consciousness and the parts of ourselves that we accept. The rear perspectives have to do with our
subconsciousness and the parts of ourselves that we do not acknowledge or
accept—our shadow.
From
the front, the chakras generally appear to be spinning clockwise, while from
the back they appear to be spinning counterclockwise. However, the chakras are exceedingly complex
structures and contain interior currents with some spinning clockwise while
others are spinning counterclockwise.
These complex vortices allow for the flow of energy both into and out of
the body. The chakras are energy
transformers, allowing the energies of one dimension to be assimilated and
stepped up or down, enabling them to connect and interact with another. They facilitate the inflow of needed energies
from the unlimited supply of energy in the Universe, the assimilation and
disbursement of these energies, and the outflow of energies that are not needed
or wanted. As well, we may receive
energies from other people in the form of information, emotions, love, or
touch; and we may express our energies through our thoughts, creativity, love,
or energy work.
