Your Chakras:
Sacred Centers of Light
Every living
being including the Earth and the Universe has spinning vortices of energy
called chakras. In fact, you have thousands of chakras in and
around you. Deep within your physical
body are located the seven major chakras that most affect your daily life. Each of these energy centers has a different
frequency, color, function, and purpose. . . . MORE!

Crystal Therapy: An Initiation by Spirit
By Theda Renee Floyd, PhD, RN, HHP
There
is not a formal attunement for crystal therapy; it is an initiation by
Spirit. By allowing each crystal to
speak directly to our hearts and work, its energies amplify our own innate
healing powers to bring peace and spiritual harmony to people, animals, plants,
spaces, and the Earth. My initiation
into crystal and stone work occurred when I was five when my grandparents, avid
rock hounds, took me to
Quartz crystals are composed of silicon dioxide, a
colorless substance. The color that we
see in crystals is due to trace elements that penetrated the silicon dioxide
matrix as the crystal formed. These
trace elements affect not only the color of the crystal; they also change the
frequency or vibrational rate of the quartz.
It is important to note that just as we are individuals, each crystal is
also unique. The pulse, vibratory rate,
or energy, of a particular crystal may not be a good fit for one person, but
may be quite perfect for another.
In a crystal healing session, semiprecious stones
and precious gemstones may be used to assist with healing. Like crystals, stones and gems emit energy,
as well as receive, absorb, transform, and transmit it. Most of the stones used by the crystal healer
are members of the quartz and chalcedony family, such as amethyst, aventurine,
agate, carnelian, citrine, rose quartz, and smoky quartz. There are some crystal healers who also
harness the energies of gemstones, such as diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and
sapphires. Gemstones themselves can
easily be overlooked when in their natural, uncut state but their attributes remain
the same. An uncut sapphire, for
example, which costs a mere fraction of the price of a faceted stone, is just
as effective for healing as the most brilliant cut gem.
Through
the processes of vibration, resonance, and entrainment, crystals bring color
and light into the physical body via the chakra system and the associated
subtle body layers of the aura. Deep
within the physical body are located the seven major chakras that most affect
daily life. These chakras actually exist
in the subtle body which surrounds and interpenetrates the physical body. Each of these energy centers has a different
frequency, color, function, and purpose.
They serve as gateways between various levels of consciousness or
dimensions. Impaired chakra function has
profound effects on our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health.
All of
the chakras should be of the same openness and size unless one is intentionally
expanding them on a temporary basis as in healing or clairvoyant work. As the chakras exist in many dimensions
simultaneously, they thus provide points of entry into those dimensions. The quality and quantity of energy that we
encounter on a particular plane has to do with how open or closed the
respective chakra is, or how able we are to control this opening and closing at
appropriate times.
An
ailing chakra may be unable to change its state easily, being stuck in either
an extremely closed or open state. The
chakra then needs healing by uncovering and removing whatever is blocking
it. In crystal therapy, crystals, gems,
and stones may be positioned on the body over the chakras. As each chakra resonates to a particular
color, we frequently align stone color with chakra sites; however, this is not
a rigid rule. Trust your intuition, as
you become more comfortable using stones and listening to their messages.
To get started in crystal healing, you will need a
set of seven or eight round or oval chakra stones about one inch in diameter
and at least one quartz crystal point.
These can be used for both healing and spiritual development. If you already have some personal crystals,
you can use those, as they are endowed with your personal magic and
energies. If you do not have any
personal crystals, one inch diameter pieces of tumbled smoky quartz, carnelian,
citrine, aventurine, rose quartz, amazonite, amethyst, clear quartz, and at
least one clear quartz point would be a good initial purchase.
Having an assortment of quartz crystal points though
is exceedingly helpful for practicing the laying on of stones, creating healing grids, and
developing healing crystal and gem elixirs.
